![]() ![]() ![]() Other than that, we tried to use unique features to our advantage. I mean, they are making similar games to yours, and if that's not somebody you can talk to, who is :P. It involved talking to many developers and having some super interesting discussions. ![]() For example, we reached out to developers of similar games and tried to have them do a promo on our game. And we've seen good results from some of it. We tried a lot of different "guerilla" marketing stuff. But having co-op as one of the core features was a big push for the game. Our goal wasn't to design a game for people who can't hang out in real life, as we started working on it a year before all the craziness. And I think we managed to catch on to some of that player behavior change. The pandemic caused a lot of success for select games in 2020. At this point in our nine-year existence, this is the moment when I feel I'm working in a team that gets stuff done without much fluff and is completely focused on the same goal. The only way to do that is if you have a great team. Marketing accounted for 6% of our overall development budget. If you don't have the money, start with smaller projects and save up some. But some things are worth the money, like hiring a good PR firm and getting a pro trailer. You can do a lot of things on a shoestring budget. And that's just wild! As we're self-published and under no NDA, I wanted to share more about the success of the game :) How DID we do it?
